 The Oak Grove Show Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Fredda Burton, combines the toughest demands of athletics, including team spirit, with the finest forms of contemporary vocal music and closely choreographed dance routines. A typical Show Choir member will acquire a level of poise and self confidence that is unsurpassed.
All rehearsals and performances are MANDATORY
(Excused absences for extenuating circumstances)
Requirements:
- Audition only: Must be in 4th or 5th Grade (a few 3rd grade students may be added at Mrs. Burton’s discretion)
- Student motivation, participation, singing proficiency and performing ability.
- Students must keep up with classroom work/assignments and have good conduct. (Classroom teacher will be consulted before a student is selected)
- Attend a mini-show choir camp and pay a $25.00 fee for the camp.
- There are out of pocket expenses throughout the year. Students are responsible for purchasing their own show choir outfit which will be a pair of black dress pants and show choir polo for under $20.
Content: In-depth study of vocal techniques and showmanship. Singing various Musical Styles including: Swing/Jazz, Country, Pop, Madrigal music, Show tunes, Religious & Patriotic, etc.
Activities: Numerous school and public performances
Out-of-Class Time Required: Two 30 minute rehearsals per week |
